Eco Challenge – Ecological Outdoor Game for Corporate Teams

Eco Challenge is an ecological outdoor game for companies in which teams compete for the highest number of leaves — exploring the terrain, solving ecology-based challenges and completing hands-on tasks. All in the open air, with a dedicated web app as the game control centre. It is a scenario that combines team building with real environmental education. Participants don't just answer questions — they build a working water filter from recycled waste materials, trade waste with other teams through negotiation, and collect bottle caps throughout the game that are donated to a Children's Hospice after the event. The grand finale is the Eco Food Blind Test — a blind tasting of eco products and their conventional counterparts. Fabryka Atrakcji organises Eco Challenge end-to-end — location, transport, a dedicated project manager on the day and full logistics. Available in Polish and English, for groups of 8 to 500 participants.

HOW IT WORKS

Step by step:

1. Game launch — facilitators brief participants on the rules, divide them into teams of 4–8 people and hand out expedition kit and a game entry card. Each team registers via SMS and receives access to the web app containing all tasks.

2. Exploration — teams explore the terrain mapped in the app. Across the game arena, over 20 plaques are hidden, each containing a code that unlocks the next task. The arena is divided into 5 ecology-themed zones — teams decide the order of exploration and their own strategy.

3. Solving tasks — 20 tasks locked in the app: ecology knowledge questions, logic challenges, analytical thinking exercises, manual tasks and quick research. Examples: how many thousands of litres of water are needed to produce 1 kg of beef? Rank transport methods by CO2 emissions.

4. Inter-team collaboration — some tasks cannot be completed alone. Each team has a basket of "waste materials" in their kit — they must identify what they are missing and negotiate a trade with other teams to unlock the next code. No deal, no leaves.

5. Special tasks — during the game, teams receive a message from a facilitator they must locate and complete a special task with. An additional special task is hidden in their kit from the start of the game.

6. Water filter build — the key manual challenge. Using provided recycled materials, teams build a working water filter from scratch. The pass condition: the filter must actually filter water.

7. Eco Food Blind Test — just before the finale, participants test their senses of taste and smell in a blind test of eco products and their conventional equivalents. Teams can wager their accumulated leaves for bonus points.

8. Final summary and bottle cap count — at the end, the total weight of collected bottle caps is announced and the company receives a thank-you from the Children's Hospice for supporting the charitable campaign.

WHY IT WORKS

1. Team building with a real-world impact — bottle caps for the hospice Eco Challenge is one of the few team building formats that leaves something behind beyond memories. The bottle caps collected during the game go to a Children's Hospice — which means participants finish with the feeling that their fun had genuine meaning. A powerful element for companies building a CSR culture.

2. Environmental knowledge through action, not slides Participants don't sit in a room listening to a lecture on sustainability — they build filters from waste, negotiate recycled materials and blind-test eco alternatives. Knowledge gained through experience sticks far longer than anything from a presentation.

3. Scalability and flexibility From 8 to 500 participants — Eco Challenge is one of the few scenarios that works equally well for a small team and a full corporate event. Terrain options include parks, forests and urban areas — we verify the location against the scenario requirements for every event.

  • What is an ecological team building game?

An ecological team building game is an outdoor format that combines team activity with environmental education. Unlike standard field games — the challenges focus on sustainability, recycling and the natural environment, and participants carry out real actions: building filters from waste, collecting recyclable materials and blind-testing eco products. The format works as a standalone event or as part of a company retreat programme.

  • How does Eco Challenge differ from standard team building?

Standard team building focuses on communication and competition. Eco Challenge adds an educational and charitable dimension — participants leave not only with shared memories but also with new knowledge and a sense of real impact (bottle caps for the hospice, a water filter that actually works). It is a format for companies that want their team building to carry deeper meaning.

  • How many people can take part in Eco Challenge?

The scenario handles 8 to 500 participants — one of the largest scalable outdoor formats on the Polish market. Teams consist of 4–8 people operating in parallel across the game arena. For very large groups, we use sector divisions with parallel starts.

  • What skills does Eco Challenge develop?

The game engages: logical and analytical thinking, ecological knowledge and environmental awareness, negotiation and cross-team collaboration, manual creativity (water filter build), strategic resource management and quick research skills. This is a broader range of competencies than most standard outdoor games.

  • What are the location requirements for Eco Challenge?

Preferred locations are urban, semi-urban or forest and park areas with pedestrian access routes. Participants walk an average of 3–5 km over the 3 hours of play — the terrain must be accessible and safe. We verify the location against the scenario requirements for every event. Send us the address of your planned venue and we will confirm compatibility.

  • Eco Challenge as part of a company retreat with CSR

Eco Challenge fits naturally into a company retreat programme as an outdoor activity combined with a charitable action. Fabryka Atrakcji organises the entire retreat — hotel, transport, programme and on-site coordinator — all on one invoice. The collected bottle caps go to a Children's Hospice, giving the company a concrete, communicable CSR result to share internally and on social media.
